Lecture accompanying the special exhibition He Toi Ora – A Living History on Thursday, 15 January 2026 at 6pm

George Nuku is an artist of Māori, Scot & German heritage. His continuous 40 year art career, both in Aotearoa New Zealand and internationally, offers an evolving trajectory. In this presentation, the audience will witness an artistic pathway, beginning in bone, shell, wood & stone and into the world of plastic.

Enjoy a myriad of art projects, in some of the world's most important museums – from collaborating with historic collections, through to the creation of immersive fantastical submarine worlds from plastic waste. The artist shares his experiences of engaging with public volunteers of many cities, countries and cultures, that proves beyond doubt that the museums have the potential to effect change.

The lecture will be held in English. Admission is free. Registration is not required.

Ort: Museum Fünf Kontinente, München
