Over the last few years, a consortium of local and international NGOs has co-ordinated their work on climate adaptation and disaster preparedness, through the Vanuatu Humanitarian Team (VHT) and the Vanuatu Climate Action Network (VCAN)

Given the devastation of Cyclone Pam, and the likelihood of further extreme weather events, this collaboration is an important model of building community resilience and promoting joint action between government and civil society.
